Routes, Tracks & Waypoints
Edit Mode
Use Edit Mode when the map itself is the best place to make the change. Route plotting and route-point editing belong here, so normal map browsing is kept separate from accidental edits.
What Edit Mode Is For
- starting a new route
- continuing an existing route
- adding, moving, or deleting route points
- reviewing a route line closely before saving or syncing it
You can still use Add Waypoint from the map action menu when it is available. That is separate from plotting a route.
Start Or Continue A Route
- Open the map screen.
- Turn on Edit Mode.
- Open the map action menu where you want to work.
- Choose Start Route for a new route, or Continue Route when continuing an existing route.
- Add points on the map.
- Choose End Route when the route is complete.
If you try to leave Edit Mode while a route is still being plotted, OMN4 asks whether to Finish the route or Keep plotting.
Make Small Changes
- Zoom in before moving or deleting route points.
- Make one clear change at a time.
- Check the route after editing, especially near junctions or close path detail.
- Use undo and redo where available if a recent edit was wrong.
Good Practice
- Use Edit Mode only while you are actively changing saved data.
- Turn Edit Mode off when you want to browse the map normally.
- Review the finished route before syncing it to other devices.
Desktop And Mobile
Both desktop and mobile support route editing, but desktop is usually easier for fine adjustments because of the larger screen and mouse control.
