OMN4 documentation is still being worked on. Images will be added later.
OMN4
Sync and Backup

What Syncs

OMN4 sync keeps supported personal data in step when each device uses the same account.

What Syncs

When sync is working normally, OMN4 can sync:

  • routes, tracklogs, waypoints, and folders
  • account-wide Route, Tracklog, and Waypoint defaults from Settings > Styles
  • folder and item style choices, including inherited versus explicit state and explicit No Icon
  • Activity classifications and your Activity Type calculation settings
  • GPS marker size, thickness, colours, and direction-line appearance
  • mobile Stats Bar visibility, one-row or two-row layout, and the item chosen for each position
  • Recording Tracklog Colour
  • other supported settings, including units, coordinate display, and track-distance filtering
  • supported icon imports

The style hierarchy is synced, not just the current appearance. An item that inherits on one device remains inheriting on another, so later parent changes behave consistently.

The Stats Bar is displayed and edited only on mobile. Its layout still travels with your account when you use OMN4 on desktop, so it is ready on your other signed-in mobile devices.

If the same synced setting was changed on more than one device, the most recent edit becomes the account value. The device that happens to sync first does not get priority. If two edits have exactly the same time, OMN4 keeps the value already in the account.

What Stays On One Device

These items are managed separately on each device:

  • downloaded offline maps
  • temporary caches
  • platform permissions such as location access
  • theme and screen orientation
  • the current map position and selected map
  • live GPS and tracklog-recording state
  • mobile data, printing, Points Explorer layout, and search state

Your account controls map access and subscriptions, but each device manages its own map downloads, storage, updates, and verification.

If a route appears on a new phone but the map underneath it does not, that is normally a map-download task rather than a sync failure.

After The Styles Update

The styles update requires a complete refresh of Routes, Tracks & Waypoints before normal uploads resume. This is different from Sync now checking for ordinary changes.

Older app versions cannot sync Routes, Tracks & Waypoints after an account is moved to the new styles system. Update every supported device. See Styles Update and Full Refresh.

Anything left only on an offline old device was never in the synced account data and cannot be transferred automatically after the change. Let old devices finish syncing before an announced cutover whenever possible.

Moving data between OMN2/3 and OMN4 is a separate bridge workflow. See Moving from OMN2/3.
