Sync and Backup
Backup
OMN4 does not need a separate Backup button for normal use. A practical backup strategy is to keep sync working and export important GPX files when you want an extra portable copy.
Recommended Backup Strategy
- Sign in with your OMN4 account.
- Let sync complete regularly.
- Before replacing or resetting a device, open OMN4 on a live connection and allow pending sync work to finish.
- Export important routes, tracks, or waypoints to GPX when you want an extra copy outside OMN4.
What Sync Protects
When sync is working normally, supported personal data can be recovered on another device after you sign in again.
That includes:
- routes
- tracks
- waypoints
- settings
- activity types
- supported icon imports
Export GPX for an Extra Copy
Use GPX export when you want a file you can store elsewhere or share outside OMN4.
- On desktop, use Export GPX for a selected item.
- On mobile, use Share GPX.
- On desktop, use Export All when you need a larger collection written out.
What Needs Separate Care
You should still treat these separately:
- downloaded offline maps
- temporary caches
- platform permissions such as location access
- any files you want to archive outside OMN4
Downloaded maps are not copied to every device by sync. If a map matters for a trip, download it on the device you will take with you.
