Print Settings

Use Print Settings when you need to choose the printer, set orientation, show grid information, set page overlap, or switch between zoom and scale printing.

The Print Settings control is the gear button on the print toolbar. The button itself is an icon, but its tooltip is Print Settings.

Choose A Printer

Open print mode.
Open the Print Settings gear.
Open the printer submenu.
Choose the printer you want to use.

If you need to change paper size, paper source, colour, quality, or other system printer options, choose Printer Settings.... Those options come from your operating system and printer driver, not from a separate OMN4 paper-size control.

When printer settings change, OMN4 recalculates the print boxes so the preview matches the printable area as closely as possible.

Set Orientation

Use Orientation in Print Settings to choose Portrait or Landscape. The print boxes on the map update when the orientation changes.

If the preview shape is not what you expect, check the selected printer and orientation first.

Show Grid Lines And Numbers

Use Grid Lines when you want coordinate grid squares printed over the map.

Use Grid Numbers when you want printed grid labels to make grid references easier to read.

These options affect the printed map, not just the on-screen preview.

Set Page Overlap

Use Page Overlap for multi-page prints. Overlap repeats a small strip of map between neighbouring pages so you can move from one sheet to the next more easily.

Single-page prints do not need overlap. For more detail on layout choices, see Scale and Layout.

Switch Between Zoom And Scale

Use Print to Scale to switch from zoom-based printing to fixed-scale printing.

When Print to Scale is off, the toolbar shows a zoom value such as 100%.
When Print to Scale is on, the toolbar shows a print scale value such as 1:25k.

The map type control is separate from Print Settings. It is the control on the print toolbar that shows the current map type, with tooltip "Map Type to Print".

If OMN4 Needs Map Tiles

When you select Print, OMN4 checks whether the required map tiles are available. If more map data is needed, OMN4 can ask you to download it before sending the job to the printer.
