Offline Use
OMN is designed to work fully offline once you've downloaded your maps. This is essential for outdoor use where mobile signal is often unreliable or non-existent.
Preparing for Offline Use
Before heading out:
- Download your maps: Use the My Maps screen to download the areas you'll be visiting
- Sync your routes: Open the GPX Manager and press Sync to ensure all your planned routes are on your device
- Test offline: Enable Airplane Mode and verify everything works
What Works Offline
Once set up, you can use these features without an internet connection:
- View downloaded maps
- Follow your planned routes
- Record GPS tracklogs
- Add waypoints
- Use the Find feature (with offline place name data)
- View statistics and route profiles
What Requires Internet
Some features require an internet connection:
- Map streaming (viewing maps you haven't downloaded)
- Syncing routes and tracklogs to the cloud
- Purchasing new maps or subscriptions
- Some search features
Tips for Reliable Offline Use
- Download generously: Include areas around your planned route in case you need to detour
- Update before you go: Sync your routes and update your maps while you have WiFi
- Check storage: Ensure your device has enough space for your downloaded maps
- Test at home: Always verify your offline setup before heading out
