GPS and Tracklogs

Tracklog Settings

OMN4 manages tracklog recording cadence automatically. The GPS settings let you choose where tracklogs are saved and how the active recording line is coloured.

Open The Settings

On mobile, open Settings and then GPS.

What You Can Change

  • Folder to save GPX files
  • Recording Tracklog Colour

OMN4 chooses the recording cadence internally, so you do not need to tune distance or time intervals before starting a tracklog.

Use Folder to save GPX files when you want recorded data grouped somewhere specific. Use Recording Tracklog Colour when you want the active recording line to stand out on the map.

Recording Behaviour

  • OMN4 asks the phone for frequent location fixes while recording.
  • Android and iOS may batch or optimise those fixes to save battery.
  • OMN4 filters the fixes internally and saves track points when they are useful for the recorded track.

Background Recording

Background recording needs the right platform permission before you rely on it.

  • On Android, set OMN4 location permission to Allow all the time. Battery optimisation can still affect long recordings on some devices.
  • On iOS, set OMN4 location permission to Always if you want tracklogs to continue in the background.

For the marker appearance controls, see GPS Marker and Accuracy.
